Our First Day of School (Morning)

Yesterday, was our first day of school and it went something like this:

7:00am The alarm goes off. I try to stay in bed as long as possible with hubby.

7:30am I let Shadow (our doggie) out. I decide to make French toast for breakfast for everyone.

8:00am Time to wake all the children.

8:30am Hubby goes off to work.

8:15-8:45am Breakfast and I clean up breakfast dishes. Children start their chores. Kiani decides to do her afternoon chores also. I have to tell Ashleigh to stop instructing her brother how to dust. Ashleigh is sitting on the sofa resting her foot. (She hurt it on Wednesday while skating.)

8:50am Jason finishes all his chores. He has free time before school starts. We are half-hour ahead of schedule. Everyone decides to start school at 9am.

9:06am Jason and Kiani are off doing P.E. (Abeka requires this for graduation) Kiani has to run a mile in 14:30 and Jason needs to walk a mile in 15:30. The children have choosen their own activities. Ashleigh asks if she could watch T.V. while she’s icing her foot and the others are doing P.E. I consent to her wishes. I take the time to do some light housework.

9:45am P.E. is over and everyone has taken their showers except for Ashleigh. She will take one this afternoon. Kiani takes time to organize her books.

9:50am Bible Time. Bible Time consists of singing hymns, prayer time, Bible reading, journaling, memory verses and for Kiani Life Management Under God. Ashleigh is already arguing about how to do the journaling. She is making it harder than it has to be.

10:30am Ashleigh has finished her Bible reading, journaling and is working on Art Appreciation. Jason starts the drawing part of art. Jason reminds me that it is snack time. Ashleigh and Jason grab their snack. We have cookie and milk for snack.
10:45am I bring Kiani her snack. She doesn’t want it right now. Kiani moves onto math. Jason and Ashleigh are taking longer than I thought on art. I have to warn Jason to stop playing around and read his art appreciation lesson.

11:00am Ashleigh and Jason start their math lessons. Jason also starts complaining his bug bite is itching.

11:20am Kiani is done with math and moves onto English. I warn Jason again about talking and not working. Five minutes later, Jason asks for help on a math problem. Then I grade art appreciation.

11:30am Ashleigh says she needs more answer sheets for math. I tell to her use as many as she needs. We have lots of answer sheets. I remind Jason again to stay on track with his work.

11:40am While the children are working. I decide it would be good time to make some phone calls and e-mail some friends.

12:10pm Lunch Time. We packed our lunches the night before so we won’t have to figure what to eat. (In the past, this would take a long time because children could not figure out what they wanted to eat.) Jason is still working on his math. Kiani has a salad. Ashleigh has a wrap and I have a sandwich. We all have cucumbers, fruit and Jell-o for dessert except for Kiani is doesn’t like Jell-0

12:25pm Jason starts his lunch.
