Reading Day

Posted By on September 24, 2007

Reading day is a day I really enjoy. It gives the children time to start their day a little slower. We do reading day about once a week. The rules for reading day is:

  1. Always begin your day with prayer.
  2. Always check with your teacher before reading any book. Choose books that challenges you.
  3. Reading day should last at least 45 minutes.
  4. Read for at least 30 minutes.
  5. When you finish reading and there is still time left, write a letter to a friend, relative, or Compassion International.
  6. Once, you have finished a book, write a 200 word book report.
  7. Maintain reading log.
  8. Always check with your teacher before moving on to the next subject.
  9. Remember to find JOY in everything you do.

The children also read on their own. I tried to encourage reading as much as possible, which is not hard to do. The children seem to enjoy reading. They would like to do reading day more often.
