My Journey

I started this web-blog to talk about homeschooling. But as my children have grown and have became more independent. I have found out I have become less involve in their everyday homeschooling. They are doing the Abeka Academy program. It is a wonderful program. I highly recommend it. Now this web-blog has became my journey to healthy living. I have chosen to eat and live a healthier lifestyle. I will be posting our everyday life as well my journey.

My journey started about year ago when my mother died from diabetes. She suffered greatly from diabetes and I don’t anyone have to go through that. I soon realized that I was following the same path by not eating right or exercising. I have gain a lot weight and began feeling to effects of an unhealthy lifestyle. I decided I needed to make some changes in my life. I started first of all, by stopping eating fast food. Then I began researching and found that most food in major supermarkets are not good (many supermarkets carry processed foods and most don’t carry organic or have little organic foods). I started shopping at Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s and began buying only organic foods when possible. Then I found out, I was still choosing the wrong foods. As well, eating a lot more calories than I should. I also was eating a lot dairy. I thought to myself I have a hard time limiting myself so I will cut it out completely. I also thought that most desserts and foods that are not good for me have eggs. I said I would cut that out too. Then I realized, I was eating like vegetarian except for the meat. I really don’t like meat (plus meat has saturated fat) and this is how I became a vegan.  I am not an expert but wanted to share my journey. This works for me so far.
