<p>We started an unit about explorers of the past. Now, it is your turn to explore the internet and learn about the explorers of the past. We just learned that it wasn&#8217;t Columbus who discovered America but someone else. Can you remember who? Read the book called <em>Explorers &amp; Mapmakers</em> pages 4-15. Why do you think maps were important? Once, you finished reading the book continue on your own journey by going <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ancient/vikings/launch_gms_viking_quest.shtml">here</a>. You will discover what it was like to be one of the first explorers by going to this <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/vikings/life/index.shtml">site</a>. Your journey will continue on to the next explorer&#8217;s journey to China. Can you guess, who it is?
